Supporting Young Entrepreneurs: Our Lemonade Stand Adventure

Summer brings with it not just sunshine and picnics but also those charming little lemonade stands!

Did you ever run a lemonade stand as a kid? I sure did! Someone once tipped me $20 and I felt like I won the lotto!

During summertime, I’ve made an unspoken commitment that if I see a kid running a lemonade stand, I will stop if it’s possible. On our way home last week from our usual Saturday morning family outing, there were big green signs saying lemonade stand. I knew we had to stop!

It turned into such a sweet moment that not only made my day but also turned into a teachable moment for my boys about the value of work and entrepreneurship. I had to share it with you here on the blog!

Stopping At The Stand: Lessons Over Lemonade

As Stephen pulled over, and we ordered our drinks, it became the perfect opportunity to chat with our boys about creating value and earning rewards. We talked about how every small business, even a lemonade stand, starts with solving a problem or filling a need. It’s about seeing opportunities everywhere and working hard to bring ideas to life

.More Than Just Quenching Thirst

The conversation with the young entrepreneur at the stand was just as refreshing as the lemonade. When I asked what they were saving up for, he said “vacations, college, and stuff.” Whether it was a rehearsed answer to get more tips or a spontaneous one, it brought a smile to everyone’s face. 🙂

Why These Moments Matter

Stopping at that lemonade stand was more than just a break in our journey; it was a continuation of our commitment to teach our boys about the possibilities life offers. These are the moments that help plant seeds of responsibility, hard work, and financial savvy in young minds.

Encouraging Others

I encourage all parents to take these small opportunities to support young entrepreneurs. Not only does it help them learn the ropes of business, but it also shows them that their community believes in them. Plus, who doesn’t love the sweet taste of freshly made lemonade on a hot day?

So, next time you see a lemonade stand, consider stopping. You’re not just buying a drink; you’re investing in a child’s dream. Remember, every little interaction can have a big impact.
