Originally designed for business teams, the L10 Meeting Structure is a 30-minute, weekly meeting where you review progress on goals, discuss any obstacles, and plan for the upcoming week. But guess what? We’ve adapted it to fit our family dynamics, and the results have been amazing.
Here’s a brief rundown of how we’ve adapted the L10 Meeting Structure for our family meetings:
Personal Best and Wins: We start our meetings by sharing our personal bests and wins for the week. This creates a positive and encouraging atmosphere right from the start.
Family Announcements: Next, we share any family announcements. This could be anything from an upcoming family event to a change in the weekly schedule.
Scorecard Review: This is where we review our weekly goals. For us, this could be chore tracking, weekly personal goals, or school-related tasks. We discuss what went well and where we need to improve.
Rocks Review: Lastly, we review our big family goals or ‘Rocks’. These could be long-term projects like saving for a family vacation or building a treehouse.
The L10 Meeting Structure has brought so much clarity and peace into our family life. It’s helped us to stay focused and aligned on our family goals. Plus, it’s created a space for us to celebrate our wins, no matter how small they may seem. Personally, I’ve found that implementing this structure has significantly reduced my feelings of overwhelm and helped ensure that less things fall through the cracks.
While we haven’t faced significant challenges in implementing this structure, we’re aware that as our boys grow older, we’ll need to adapt and evolve how we use the L10 in our family meetings. But we’re committed to learning and growing together.
My advice to other families considering the L10 Meeting Structure? Just do it! Start with an open mind and a commitment to consistency. The benefits of more peace, less overwhelm, and a more connected family life are well worth it.
Remember, the beauty of the L10 Meeting Structure is in its simplicity and adaptability. So, tailor it to suit your family’s unique needs and dynamics. Here’s to a more organized and peaceful family life!
As always, we’re here to support you in your journey. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further advice on implementing the L10 Meeting Structure in your family meetings.
